Content Marketing Specialist (Remote - U.S. based)

Location: Remote (U.S.-based; must work primarily on Chicago / Central Time)

Employment Type: Full-time

Reports to: Head of Marketing

Salary: $52,000 – $57,000 per year

The Content Marketing Specialist owns the day-to-day execution of Code Platoon’s content and email marketing efforts. This role sits at the intersection of content, CRM, and recruitment, helping ensure the right message reaches the right audience at the right time.


You’ll manage our content calendar, lead segmented email campaigns, and help shape how our website and brand show up to prospective students.

What You’ll Do

Content & Editorial Management

  • Manage the Code Platoon content calendar across website, blog, and email
  • Create, edit, schedule, and optimize content to support recruitment goals
  • Ensure content is accurate, consistent, and aligned with brand voice

Website Content & Storytelling

  • Maintain and improve website content, structure, and messaging
  • Support landing pages and program pages that guide prospects toward action
  • Collaborate on storytelling that reflects Code Platoon’s mission and impact

Email Marketing & Segmentation

  • Build and manage segmented email campaigns end-to-end
  • Develop and optimize nurture, recruitment, and engagement campaigns
  • Test, report on, and refine email performance to improve conversion

HubSpot & Marketing Automation

  • Manage marketing and content functions within HubSpot
  • Build and maintain workflows, automations, and lists
  • Support ongoing CRM optimization in partnership with Marketing and Recruitment
  • Use data to improve targeting, timing, and messaging

Brand Stewardship & Collaboration

  • Uphold Code Platoon’s voice, tone, and brand across all content.
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing and Recruitment teammates.
  • Actively participate in a forward-thinking, action-oriented marketing program.

What You Bring

Required

  • 3+ years of experience managing segmented communications and email programs
  • Hands-on experience with CRM and marketing automation tools (HubSpot strongly preferred)
  • Comfortable building workflows, managing lists, and working with performance data
  • Strong written communication skills and attention to detail
  • Highly organized; able to manage multiple projects at once
  • Experience using Trello or a similar project management system
  • Entrepreneurial mindset; comfortable working in a small, fast-moving team

Preferred

  • Experience in education, workforce development, or nonprofit marketing
  • Exposure to content creation and/or social media management
  • Interest in technology or tech career pathways
  • Strong connection to the Veteran or military family community (Veteran, spouse, or dependent preferred)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $52,000 – $57,000 per year, commensurate with experience

  • Fully remote role within the United States (Central Time collaboration required)
