Job Description

The Seamstress is responsible for performing basic sewing and repair of textile items. This includes mending tears, hemming garments, replacing zippers, and performing other simple alterations or repairs to ensure items meet quality and appearance standards. The role requires attention to detail, consistent workmanship, and the ability to work efficiently in a production or service environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform basic sewing tasks including hemming, stitching, patching, and repairing seams.
• Replace zippers, buttons, hooks, and other fasteners as needed.
• Operate commercial sewing machines and related tools safely and efficiently.
• Inspect garments and linens for needed repairs and perform mending as directed.
• Maintain an organized work area.
• Perform simple measurements and markings to ensure proper fit and finish.
• Maintain quality control standards for all completed work.
• Adhere to all safety procedures and complete required safety trainings.
• Assist with other department duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Basic sewing skills and experience operating sewing machines.
• Ability to perform routine repairs and alterations accurately.
• Attention to detail and quality workmanship.
• Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Reliable attendance and time management skills.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
• Frequent use of hands, fingers, and small tools.
• Occasional lifting up to 20 lbs.
• Good vision for detailed work.

Additional Information

Pay Rate: $17.50/hr
